A weekly admin routine that leaves less to catch up on
A short, repeatable review of customers, tasks and everyday records can make the next working week easier to start.
Running a small business often means moving between customer work, decisions and administration. A useful weekly routine brings the loose ends into view before they become next week's distractions.
Start with open commitments
Look at the promises you made during the week. Check customer follow-ups, supplier questions and tasks that still need a next step. For each unfinished item, write one action you can actually take.
- Who needs an answer?
- What is waiting on someone else?
- Which task has a real deadline?
Bring everyday records up to date
Capture the income, expenses and invoice payments you have not recorded yet. Keep the underlying receipts and documents in your own organised filing system. A workspace can help you see the picture, but it does not replace source documents or your accountant's records.
Review outstanding balances
Check which invoices have a remaining balance and whether a payment has already been recorded. Before following up, make sure your record reflects partial payments and recent customer communication. Keep the next follow-up clear and courteous.
Pick a realistic next week
Choose a small set of priorities rather than carrying every task into Monday. A task such as 'contact customer about the outstanding brief' is easier to start than 'sort out customers'.
Keep an independent copy
Export your workspace records regularly and keep the export in a separate, secure location. Check that you know how to open and restore the copy. Do not assume that a file you have never checked will be useful when you need it.
MINTNERVE brings customer details, tasks and everyday records together so this review has a consistent starting point. Keep the routine small enough to repeat.
